Welcome to the weekly bulletin for the voluntary and community sector of
Milton Keynes.

Community Action: MK are working with partners and the community to ensure residents across Milton Keynes are supported throughout this challenging and scary time.

We are working to provide strategic help to groups and coordinate a volunteer response to arising challenges as a result of Covid-19.

Do you need volunteers or know of volunteers willing to help?
We understand that some volunteer roles may become redundant at this time, or you might be lacking in volunteers. Please contact us if you have volunteers that might be willing to help in another capacity, or any urgent roles in your service that could be filled by volunteers.

Community Kindness in Beanhill and Netherfield
Beanhill Tea Rooms and Bakery is a social enterprise. The meals on wheels cost £3.50 per meal for elderly people and people who are self isolating. Councillors are offering their help with picking up shopping for people, posting mail, etc. Netherfield has their own residents facebook page and are keeping people updated on there.
Step Change – Advice around debt and Coronavirus
As coronavirus continues to spread, you may be worried about what could happen if you have take time off work, leaving you with less money coming in, but with debts and bills to pay.

Age UK Milton Keynes urgently needs your help to support to local older people
Age UK Milton Keynes is setting up an emergency service to support local older people, who have no support mechanism in place, who are either in isolation or who are struggling to get essential supplies during the current COVID-19 outbreak. Donate via their website, or GoFundMe.
Milton Keynes University Hospital Amazon Wishlist

Double Your Donation: #DonateYourCommute Covid-19 Emergency Appeal
As many of us are working from home now, The Big Give are asking people to #DonateYourCommute to the National Emergencies Trust. Donate the amount you’re saving on their daily travel costs if you’re now working from home, or whatever they can afford to give. Donate

You might be worried about coronavirus and how it could affect your life. This may include being asked to stay at home or avoid other people. This might feel difficult or stressful. But there are lots of things you can try that could help your wellbeing. Read more

Community Action:MK & Macmillan Cancer Research Survey 
Community Action: MK are working with Macmillan to try and develop a better understanding of the experiences of BAME and faith communities in Milton Keynes in relation to cancer and cancer services.

Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal
The Community Foundation has established the Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal. Grants may be made for charitable purposes to relieve hardship caused directly or indirectly by the
Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Martin Lewis Coronavirus Charity Help Fund Application
Martin Lewis is giving grants of £5k to £20k to small registered UK charities, or local arms of bigger charities. Foodbanks, charities engaged in community aid, financial advice help and more –  to help with specific UK coronavirus-related poverty relief projects. Apply here

Waitrose and John Lewis pledge to give money to support the communities you live and work in. Keep an eye on their news for funding updates.
