MK ULO Network provides a united voice for disabled people, carers, groups and organisations. We are an active and inclusive network of groups and organisations that offers information, guidance, support or simply a helping hand to others to live full and active lives. Together we make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of disabled people in Milton Keynes.
What are the benefits to joining the ULO Network:-
- We can have a stronger voice to influence decision makers
- We can come together to share knowledge, expertise and information
- Together we can raise awareness of disability issues
- We can offer support with funding opportunities and applying for grants
- Networking brings forward opportunities to grow within the community
The more people who join the ULO Network the stronger we become – get involved, join today, we are a friendly bunch.
Some of our current ULO’s include:
PDSICG – The Physical Disability and Sensory Impairment Consultation Group (PDSICG) is funded by Milton Keynes Council (MKC) specifically as a consultation group on issues for the physically disabled, hearing and visually impaired people of Milton Keynes. It also acts as a critical friend of the Council. The Group has been in existence for over ten years now and comprises 6 physically disabled, wheelchair users, all with different disabilities, two visually impaired people and one profoundly deaf person. The Committee operates with two Co-chairs who lead meetings alternately. The Committee is elected on a yearly basis.
PDSICG have been involved in consultations on improvements at the MK Rail Station, MK Coachway, Marks and Spencer at the Stadium, MK, The MK Central Post Office, The Sensory Services (SARC) contract to name just a few. The Group hopes to undertake an access survey of GP Surgeries in Milton Keynes shortly.
If you feel you have questions or issues you would like PDSICG to take up on your behalf, please get in touch with Kim Burchell at MK CIL. Her email address is email@example.com. Of course, we cannot promise to solve everyone’s problems or issues!
The Group is actively looking to recruit new members, especially, hearing impaired and deaf/blind and young physically disabled and sensory impaired people. Please contact the Chairs, Ros Bloor and Jim Reid via Kim Burchell at MKCIL if you are interested in joining the Group which meets on the second THURSDAY of each month at MK CIL meeting room situated within Christ the Cornerstone Church.
